Regional Cooperation and Dissemination of Results Task 4.1. Workshops and excursions to complexes with artificial groundwater recharge Technical field trip: “Groundwater recharge and iron and manganese in aquifers” Excursion: „in-situ remediation Niederösterreich and Oberösterreich“ Excursion: „artificial ground water recharge facilities and water treatment plants in the brown coal mining region Gartzweiler (Germany)” Workshop with tenders: “facilities for sub-terrestrian in-situ remediation” 3 IZVEDENO DELO / WORK DONE All intended activities for the period 07/2011 – 06/2012 has been operated by Partner GSO as planned The results of the operated activities has been documented in reports, which are available at the partners office Based on the results of the activities in task 4.1 a subterrestrian in-situ remediation facility „FERMANOX“ has been implemented Isotope investigations and thermodynamic geohydrochemical modeling has been done to determine the origin of recharge water Additional Investigation on pesticide concentration in the groundwater of water supply wells of GSO has been done in cooperation with PHI Two Additional excursions with experts on artificial groundwater recharge and groundwater management has been organized and operated 4 REZULTATI / RESULTS Intensive field monitoring and the evaluation of the measurements of on-line sensors are the basis for the assessment of the effectiveness of artificial groundwater recharge facilities to ensure drinking water quantity and quality 5 REZULTATI / RESULTS Subterrestrian in-situ remediation as an effective tool to treat the groundwater before artificial infiltration 6 REZULTATI / RESULTS Artificial recharge is an effective tool to reduce nitrate concentration in drinking water using delution effects. Monitoring in the field and the use of online sensors is essential for optimization of the operation mode. 7 RAZMERJA DO DRUGIH DP / RELATIONS TO OTHER PARTNERS Partizipation of GSO and external experts on technical excursions and workshops organized by Slowenian partners Modeling tools developed by Partner STY will be used to determine groundwater recharge and nitrate leaching on a regional scale Coupled model developed by Partner STY will be used to determine the impact of different agricultural and meteorological scenarios on groundwater flow and nitrate distribution in the catchment of the GSO water supply wells Weather data and monitoring results will be visualized in the WEBbased information system developed by Partner STY The type of artificial groundwater recharge facility as developed by GSO will be offered as a tool for other partners to ensure groundwater quantity and quality in the projects region 8 ČASOVNICA - NAČRT AKTIVNOSTI / ACTIVITIES PLANNED BY PARTNER WP 2.
