My name is Sarah Bruns. I am 24 years
old and I live in Houston, Texas. I am
currently a senior at the University of
Houston and I am majoring in Human
Development and Family Studies with a
minor in Psychology.
After I tell most people what my major is, they
immediately look puzzled and ask me what it is
and what will I do with it? This presentation will
hopefully answer most of these questions.

Family Studies?
• HDFS is a bachelors of science program that looks at
the social, physical, psychological, and emotional
development of individuals and families (University
of Houston).
• At the University of Houston, students can major in

necessary?
• It prepares children for future inclusion settings
• It allows children with special needs to get help
before they start to show obvious need.
• Children who receive early intervention may
overcome their special needs and meet their sameage peers in areas such as:
