Students will learn to apply (protocolised and idiosyncratic) CBT interventions effectively to a range of client groups (with a focus on anxiety and depression problems). • About the ‘didactic/learning style’ • Focus is on independent adult learning, the face2face teaching and supervision needs to be seen as a starting point of student’s learning – the student is expected to take responsibility for further research, reading and consolidation of skills Entry Criteria • You have a degree (or can provide an academic portfolio demonstrating you have completed studies to a similar level) • You have a recognised core profession as defined by the BABCP (or you are able to present us with a portfolio of study and experience that demonstrates you can function at the level of someone with a recognised profession) • Ability of self-reflection Structure • Academic learning • Six modules (66 days at university): foundation of CBT (2); CBT and anxiety (2); CBT and Depression (1) and CBT and comorbidity. • 30x2hrs sessions of small group clinical supervision • Teaching days consist of: literature review, case review, plenary lectures and skills training sessions • Clinical Practice • Complete 8 cases and 200 CBT sessions • Weekly supervision in the place of employment by BABCP accredited therapist Assessments (1) Module Title Module 1: The fundamentals of cognitive behavioural therapy Module 2: Consolidation of the fundamentals of cognitive behavioural therapy Summative Assessment 4000 word Fundamentals Case Report focussed on Assessment with a patient with depression and/or an anxiety disorder. Literature Review on CBT Application (4000 words) Formative Assessment In programme evidence based Case & Literature presentations (delivered to peers) to be included in portfolio. (In total over the whole course: 6 of each) A recorded session with a patient (up to 60 minutes), assessed using CTS-R, in individual supervision session In programme evidence based Case & Literature presentations (delivered to peers) to be included in portfolio A recorded session with a patient (up to 60 minutes), assessed using CTS-R, in group supervision session Exam (multiple-choice) over core programme and lecture material.
