What is Collagen?
Though many things contribute to a
younger, healthier appearance; one of
the most important element is an
amazing molecule called “collagen”.
About 80% of your skin is made from
collagen, giving the skin its basic
structure. Collagen makes skin
stronger, thicker and more supple,
which is what makes skin smooth, firm
and strong - and young looking. But
unfortunately, as we age, the skin loses
collagen and our body gradually
produces less and less.

Scientists now understand that
the gradual loss of collagen with
age results in fine lines, wrinkles,
acne scars and other blemishes
associated with aging. This
process is further accelerated by
exposure to the sun and other
elements. As collagen lessens,
the skin begins to weaken, gets
thinner and less supple, and
prone to fine lines, wrinkles and
other blemishes.

How Does It Work?
Radio Frequency treatment uses electrical pulses. It heats the dermis through hand-pieces,
the deepest skin layer, without damaging the epidermis -the top layers of the skin- to
stimulate new collagen growth and provide an improvement in skin laxity and appereance, to
remodel and enhance dermal density with minimal risks.
Tissue Retraction: The generated heat causes local contraction of the collagen fibres,
thereby immediately tightening the skin to remodel and rejuvenate the previous effects of
ageing.
New Collagen Formation: The local fibroblasts stimulate the collagen formation by
heating the dermis and it then acts as a new deep foundation for the skin. This produces
further delayed tightening, which only becomes evident slowly over the next few months.
Improved Circulation: Radio-frequency also improves blood flow and lymphatic
drainage, thereby provides a better oxygen supply and greater toxin clearance.

Monopolar Radiofrequency
• Monopolar delivery of radiofrequency is based on applying a single
electrode to the treated area, whereas the opposing electrode is relatively
far removed; so that the current goes deeply through the skin. As a result,
the tissue in the treated area is heated rather deeply and intensely.
Monopolar radiofrequency is typically used to treat facial sagging, skin
laxity, and cellulite.

Bipolar Radiofrequency

Bipolar delivery of radiofrequency is based on applying two closely positioned
electrodes to the treated area. The electric current that goes between the
electrodes is relatively small and superficial. As a result, the tissue in the treated
area is heated less deeply and less intensely compared to monopolar RF. It is less
useful for indications when deep tissue heating may be desirable.
A single bipolar RF treatment would produce less noticeable results than a
monopolar one. Hence bipolar RF procedures are often done in a series of several
treatments whose benefits are believed to be cumulative.
Bipolar RF is usually combined with other energy sources, particularly lasers or
intense pulsed light, which are believed to act synergistically with RF and help
achieve better subsequent dermal remodeling. Hence, in addition to skin
tightening, such treatments are also used to improve wrinkles and fine lines.

Generally yes, because it is suitable for
all skin colours but it cannot be used in
patients with pacemakers, metal plates
or pins in the treatment area, severe
heart disease, connective tissue diseases,
