Seminar for anyone interested in islands and archipelagoes!
Studies about ecological, sociological, cultural and economic aspects of islands and island life. What kind
of studies about islands and island life are done? Both traditional and scientific knowledge is important
for the development of sustainable solutions for island societies.

The seminar is arranged by the Archipelago Sea Area Biosphere Reserve to celebrate the 20th
Anniversary. Archipelago Institute at Åbo Akademi University, the Archipelago Research Institute of
Turku University, Nordenskiöld-samfundet and is a part of the EU funded project “Jag är en del av
biosfären”.
Kort beskrivning på svenska: Den 1.10.2014, kl.9-16 (8.30 morgonkaffe) ordnas ett seminarium
om Öar och öliv. Alla intresserade är välkomna med! Seminariet äger rum i Auditoriet Armfelt vid
Åbo Akademi. Både vetenskaplig och traditionell kunskap om öar och öliv presenteras på forumet.
Seminariespråket är engelska. Arrangörerna är Skärgårdsinstitutet vid Åbo Akademi,
Skärgårdsforskningsstationen vid Åbo universitet, Nordenskiöld-samfundet och Skärgårdshavets
Biosfärområde. Forumet förverkligas som en del av EU-finansierade Leader-projektet ”Jag är en del av
biosfären”.
