The Ekelund family have been purveyors to the Royal Court of Sweden
for over a century. Our very first documented delivery took place in 1878.
The order was probably placed in connection with Crown Prince Gustav’s visit to our mill in 1877.
Even after ascending the throne, Gustav V remained an esteemed customer, as did his son, Gustav
VI Adolf. We are also pleased to accommodate
our present king, Carl XVI Gustav.

Supplying linen goods to Russia, which has the world’s largest industrial
production of linen, is unusual. Being favoured with an exclusive order from the Kremlinis rarer still; but
in 1996 we were proud to deliver tablecloths and napkins to the stately banquet halls. The tablecloths
were 10 metres long and featured Russia’s Coat of Arms woven into the edging.
Green Clean is a new brand for products woven in cotton and bamboo viscose
with antibacterial properties. Bamboo fiber has natural antibacterial properties
that remain after conversion to viscose. The products are better able to tolerate
moisture environment, while impeding the development of foul odors and mold
spots. These properties remain after washing.
Products such as dish cloths, kitchen towels, chef’s side towels, and light plaids all
feature the following properties:
and E mperors.
His Majesty Akihito of Japan, the last remaining emperor,
purchased tablecloths from Ekelund during visits to Sweden in 2000 and 2007.

Design & culture for a global world
Glädje, fest och omtanke
A quilt in Mexico, a runner from the southern Swedish province of Scania, or a beautiful
rug from the Orient – all culture shares a common root, which is clearly evident in the
treasure trove of objects preserved at Skansen. Textile history has always had a prominent place at Skansen, which is why the partnership between Skansen and Ekelund
is extra special when tradition, diversity and history are interwoven to inspire a new
design for a global world.

in Skansen seit jeher große Bedeutung.
