Impressionism: A style of painting that attempts to capture the
rapidly changing effects of sunlight on objects.

Cezanne’s technique, slightly different from other Impressionist artists,
consisted of larger sections of unmixed colors, leaving a rougher, choppier
look.

ASSIGNMENT:






Using a viewfinder, look around the still life to find an
interesting composition that includes 4-6 objects that you
would like to draw.
Create a thumbnail sketch of your objects in your
sketchbook.
Move around the still life and create a minimum of three
additional thumbnail drawings to determine your final spot
in the classroom.
Decide on the one composition you enjoy most and begin
drawing the objects on the larger paper provided.
Using soft pastel, blend and match the values of the objects
and shade them accurately. You are allowed to use colored
charcoal paper.
Clean up smudges and spray-fix your work.
