Assignment:
Create a contour line drawing using variety in the
measure of the lines to translate the lines of a pair
of shoes.
Process for creating the drawing:
• Create a compositionally interesting combination of the shoes on the
table. Be sure each side of the table has an interesting view.
• Use your viewfinder to find an interesting composition. Be sure to fill
your sheet of paper with the composition.
• Sketch your view out in your sketchbook. Draw studies of the areas
you may find difficult to draw at first.
• When you are ready to go onto the final drawing, lightly sketch the
contours in.
• Add details, refine the lines, and use the thickness and value of the line
in order to get a sense of the weight of the shoe.
• Sign the drawing in the lower right hand corner. Do not overwhelm
the drawing with your signature!
