• Even a paraphrase must be
acknowledged

• Easily accessible facts or beliefs which are
known and shared by many people, and
which are not attributable to any single source
• For example:
• The population of Hong Kong was nearly 7
million and the per capita GDP is one of the
highest in Asia.
• President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in
Dallas on 22 November 1963, apparently by
Lee Harvey Oswald.
