From Visions to Reality
About Project
The project aim is to test models
of cooperation between universities and
businesses/organisations
in the European Union (EU) and
Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC)
in order to establish
sustainable relations among the project’s
partner universities.
CREATIVE WORKSHOPS
WHAT ARE CREATIVE WORKSHOPS?
ITESM Monterrey students will spend
three weeks in Central Europe - doing
research in the field of innovation
transfer while discovering three
Central European countries.
HOW THEY WILL BE ORGANISED?
•Within the first 14 days students will
work on applied research projects
together with students of the hosting
university.
•All students will present the results of
their research projects at the project’s
final workshop, to be held in Bratislava.
•At the end of their stay in Central
Europe, students will visit the capital
cities of the participating countries.
WHEN THEY WILL BE ORGANISED?
1 June 2014
Arrival to Europe
2-13 June
Research period
14-21 June
Road-show to capital
cities
17 June
Final event
22 June
Departure from Europe
RESEARCH PROJECTS
Students will work
on applied research projects
together with students
of the hosting university.
Topics of research projects
are following:
Research in Prague
TOPIC 1
Multi-criteria analysis of the
environment quality in cities
(based on the comparison of
one Mexican and one Czech
city)
TOPIC 2
Comparison of the efficiency of
solar energy use in Mexico and
the Czech republic
TOPIC 3
Efficiency of costs/expenses of
environmental protection
(cleaner technology)
TOPIC 1
Multi-criteria analysis of the
environment quality in cities (based
on the comparison of one Mexican
and one Czech city)
Multi-criteria analysis is one of very
progressive techniques helping in the area of
urban planning (it helps better understanding
the current situations and especially it is a
powerful tool when planning the future
development of cities).
Students:
• Will be consulted the principles of the methodology
• A case (city) in the Czech Republic will be presented
to the students
• One city in Mexico will be selected (preferable a
small or medium one)
• Students with a support of Czech teacher will
elaborate the methodology for an assessment of
quality of living in the cities (where the
environmental factors/parameters will be included)
• The methodology will be applied for the Mexican city
TOPIC 2
Comparison of the efficiency of solar
energy use in Mexico and the Czech
republic
The solar energy seems to be one of the very
prospective sources of renewable energy for
the future. The nature conditions, appropriate
technologies and policies could differ in
different countries.
Comparative analysis could be useful for
promoting future research and technological
collaboration between countries.
Students will work on a comparative analyses
covering especially following points:
• Comparing nature conditions for introducing
solar energy in Mexico and in the Czech Republic
• Comparing solar technologies used in Mexico
and in the Czech Republic
• Comparing economic efficiency of the solar
energy in Mexico and in the Czech Republic
• Comparing (governmental) policies in both
countries.
TOPIC 3
Efficiency of costs/expenses of
environmental protection (cleaner
technology)
Economic aspects of introducing modern
technologies in the area of environmental
protection are very important issue in the
theory and practice.
Comparing to the end-of-pipe solution they
have potential for higher economic
effectiveness.
Students:
•Will be consulted the principles (basic theory) of
understanding the abatement costs in the case of
end-of-pipe solution and especially in the case of
cleaner technologies introduction and their
efficiency
•Students will find a case in Mexico (in a
corporation, which has a concrete experience with
introducing cleaner technology and has an
interest to invite student to collaborate)
•The methodology for efficiency assessment will
be developed with the help of Czech teacher
•The methodology will be applied for the Mexican
case
