Peter Rebukes Jesus Peter takes Jesus aside and he rebukes him. This is a strong rebuke from Peter to Jesus. Peter & the disciples do not understand the concept of a ‘suffering messiah’. Peter meant well, his intentions were sincere. Jesus Strongly Rebukes Peter Jesus uses strong language to rebuke Peter. Jesus refers to Peter as Satan. Jesus saw Peter’s suggestion as a temptation. What Was Peter’s Main Issue? Peter did not have his mind set on the ways of God, he had his mind set on the ways of man. Set your minds on the ways and things of God, not the ways and things of man.
