Elvis Presley’s Great Influence and Comment on His Objection to the Racial Discrimination Cat king, whose English name is Elvis Presley, has made a great influence to the world of music. It isn’t exaggerated to say that the 20th century is the century of Cat king. Elvis Presley may be the most important person in the world of American popular music. Judging from the distribution of his records, he is the most successful musicman. Elvis Presley is the first white singer who combines the country music and Bruce music with folk-rock, which makes him become a superstar. He is not only the model of the folk-rock, but also the symbol of the folk-rock. In March 1958,Elvis had to join the army. He wanted to be an ordinary soldier. When his hair cut, thousands of women cried. When Elvis Presley died on 16th August 1977, radio and television programs all over the world were interrupted to give the news of his death. President Carter was asked to declare a day of national mourning. Carter said:‘Elvis Presley changed the face of American popular culture……He was unique and irreplaceable. ‘Eighty thousand people attended his funeral. The streets were jammed with cars, and Elvis Presley films were shown on television, and his records were played on the radio all day. In the year after his death, one hundred million Presley LPs were sold. What I must admired is that Elvis Presley himself is a White person, but he insists on introducing the Black’s music to the White. And during that time, the White people always look down upon the Black, and many of them blame Elvis Presley on his behavior. But Elvis Presley ignores the great stress and insists on his style of Black’s music, and show people a mixed music of White and Black, finally he shocked all the people. In my opinion, Elvis Presley has not only changed the style of White music, but also the concept of the White people. We can find a protesting spirit from his behavior, his protest to the discrimination to the Black. Elvis Presley is really an unordinary person, although he is not so famous as Martin Luther King, but I think he deserves the second Martin Luther King. When all the White people discriminate the Black, he is so brave, so special that he stands on the side of the Black. However great the stress is, at least in my heart, he is not only a singer, but also a great politician, which makes him different from other singers in history. The people will memorialize the great man, Elvis Presley, forever!
