ARRABRI LODGE Camp 2012 By Makaela, Yanika and Surani After our three day camp we have been making a PowerPoint about our spectacular experience at Arrabri Lodge. Day 1 We came to school at the usual time and we got ready to get on the bus and ride to Arrabri Lodge. We left at 9:30 and we got there at around 11:00. The trip took us one hour and a half. When we got there, we started to settle in and meet our cabin mates. After that, we got to have a tour with Tony around Arrabri Lodge so that we could get familiar with the places. We started to get into business starting off with a few activities with our groups. By the end of our activities we were all hungry so we had dinner at 6:00 which was lasagna and chips. Flying Fox On the Flying Fox we were hooked to a rope which was then attached to a swing and then we had to sit on it. The swing carried us downhill. Some of the teachers tried it and they enjoyed it a lot. We got two turns for each person. Giant Swing All of the Grade 5/6s did the Giant Swing and it was really amazing. We had agreed that on the first two swings our stomachs went all weird and at the end we were gasping for air. We only had one turn and most of us went to the top. When you actually looked at it, it looks like a real swing except it was way higher and way bigger. At the end we saw the teachers go on and all of them were screaming. Mini Golf Mr. Walsh did the Mini Golf and there were 18 holes that we had to do in partners. In one of the holes some one found a lizard and had mistaken it for a snake so they panicked and got Mr. Walsh. Then he got Dave who got them to calm down and had told them that it was a lizard. Day 2 Firstly we had breakfast which was at 8:15. The duty group had to wake up at 7:30 and get ready by 7:45. For breakfast we had cereal (cornflakes, coco pops and rice bubbles) toast and hash browns. Then, after our afternoon tea we had an hour of free time and there was also a chance of showers before dinner. In the night we watched a movie called “Like Mike 2.” Ropes Course Miss Anderson did the ropes course and with a few groups she made a special challenge. It was who ever went around the ropes course without touching the ground was going to get a treat. The ropes course was really fun and most people enjoyed the “Tarzan swing.” Orienteering In the orienteering, you had to find little green cards that were hidden and you were given a map and that tells you where the green cards are in the camp grounds. Once you have recorded the numbers you had to add all the points and with the letters you had to make a sentence. Archery In the archery we had to line up and there were three right-handed bows and in one turn you could shoot three arrows. We had three goes and most of us at least got it in the black or the blue part of the target. Teamwork Activities • • • • • • Nitro Crossing The Beam The Caterpillar The Web The Tyre The Tyre Lifting We had to do a bunch of activities that were very challenging. A lot of them had something to do with teamwork. At the end we had a lot of fun and we enjoyed it. Day 3 On day three we went on a bush walk and we got ready to leave Arrabri Lodge.
