Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Neighborhood Watch Program Four major parts to program Set up program Member list / Phone tree Map of community Select Captain Operation ID Environmental Quarterly Design meetings Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Neighborhood Watch Program Once up and running the program will: Allow neighbors to work together on solving problems Neighbors will watch out for neighbors Suspicious activity will be reported Make you and your property less of a target Reduce crime in your neighborhood Can improve property value Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Why do we need Neighborhood Watch Why can’t the Police handle it Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Why do we have a Neighborhood Watch There are 170,395 citizens in the unincorporated part of the county (2009) There are 119 Deputies including the Sheriff 9 administrators 14 detectives 13 Sergeants 7 Specialty Deputies, 12 K-9 and Traffic CRO, SRO, PIO, training, civil service, ect Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office Why do we have a Neighborhood Watch That leaves 63 deputies for Patrol 24 hours so there are 21 deputies per shift 7 days a week but deputies only work 5 days a week, plus vacation and sick days That gives us 9-12 deputies on at any one time to answer the 95,000 calls for service we receive annually Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office So the question is not why we need neighborhood watch it is how can we live without it !!!
