Research & Grants Management Gaps
• Limited systematic identification & dissemination of Grants & Research opportunities
• No organized grants management system
• No organized networks of researchers and research administrators
• Very few faculty & staff trained on grants writing and management
• No established mechanisms for training of faculty & students on Grants management procedures & guidelines
To strengthen administrative and human resource capacities at the
University of Nairobi to enhance biomedical and behavioral research and management of sponsored projects.
Aim 1: To strengthen capacities for research proposals development and grants writing, submission and award management.
Train staff, faculty, students, PIs, and grants administrators.
Support seminars & grand rounds in which successful grant candidates provide mentorship to new investigators.
Support participation in relevant local & international conferences for the PIs, faculty, students and grants administrators.
Aim 2: To strengthen capacities for research and grants management & administration
Strengthen administrative & technical support to grant awardees - - - - - - establish a computerized Research & Grants Management
System (RGMS).
Develop R&G policies, procedures and guidelines for identifying, disseminating and tracking research grants.
Develop UoN Office of Research Promotion
(ORP) Website.
Aim 3: To establish a network of biomedical & behavioral research & grants administrators,
PIs and Researchers.
