Tables for each USU School Program (see Example… next page) show the number of electronic journals indexed in USU Databases and Open Sources. 1. From USU main page select Student Services and Library. Scroll down and note right side of screen “Electronic Resources by School Program.” 2. Select your choice of School, e.g. School of General Studies. Check the subject “History,” and total of journals in each database. 3. To look for “American History,” search EBSCO Academic Search Premier (ASP) which holds 499 journals. Also search JSTOR containing 247 journals. (Note: number of journals increased year by year.) 4. To look for “ World History” see “DOAJ” and for “Latin American History” see “REDALYC.” 5. For “History” theses, search “OPENDOAR” and also “OAISTER.” 6. To search each of them, check “Tutorials” or contact the librarian at clopez@usuniversity.edu or call (619) 477 6310 ext. 2017. • Access to “Open Sources” do not need codes, but can be accessed directly from “Google,” or “USU Online Full Text Databases.” For example to select “OPENDOAR,” select “General Studies Online Resources” and alphabetically locate “Directory of Open Access Repositories,” or “OPENDOAR.” Knowledge is Empowerment Content of USU Online Full Text Databases • Each Program consist of “Online Resources” and “Related Links.” • “Online Resources” include all USU databases (EBSCO, PROQUEST and JSTOR) and Open Sources. • “Related Links” include organizations, Universities, Government, Associations, Societies, Programs, Institutes, etc. • Take an exploratory tour into each link; click “Evolution,” “Human Anatomy,” “USGS Earthquakes,” “NASA Earth Observatory,” “Einstein,” “Art,” etc. Knowledge is Empowerment The purpose of tutorials is to direct students toward the best available resources in the vast world of information. • We have seen the importance of selecting the right database.
