standards.pdf
• Electronic Resources by School Program. Tables listing by
subject the total of Journal, E-Books, Theses and Articles
• US University Online Full Text Databases. Resources are
alphabetically organized, including information content, scope
and type of access.
• Tutorials designed to guide students and faculty through the

From Outcome b. “Selects efficient and effective approaches …” the
following resources will assist you in making your choices.
Tables for each USU School Program (see Example… next page) show the number of
electronic journals indexed in USU Databases and Open Sources.
1. From USU main page select Student Services and Library. Scroll down and
note right side of screen “Electronic Resources by School Program.”
2. Select your choice of School, e.g. School of General Studies. Check the
subject “History,” and total of journals in each database.
3. To look for “American History,” search EBSCO Academic Search Premier
(ASP) which holds 499 journals. Also search JSTOR containing 247 journals.
(Note: number of journals increased year by year.)
4. To look for “ World History” see “DOAJ” and for “Latin American History” see
“REDALYC.”
5. For “History” theses, search “OPENDOAR” and also “OAISTER.”

The purpose of tutorials is to direct students toward the
best available resources in the vast world of information.
• We have seen the importance of selecting the right
database. Tutorials help students streamline their search,
for the overload of current information tends to be
overwhelming.
• In the process to search the databases efficiently and
effectively we need to learn the skills included in the USU
Tutorials
• Tutorials are being produce every time there is information
need and an answer to be explain; keep looking for new
tutorials.
