Loren Hall Interviewed by: Randy Smith from North Western News Cast Question: How did you feel when Walt went to say your claim? Answer: I was surprised Walt went to save my claim. I never thought stampeders would come and pick my claim. But I’m glad Walt did. Question: Did you think you had gold in your claim? Answer: I wasn’t 100% sure if i had gold in my claim but i went to claim it to see if I did. Question: Did you ever consider going with Walt’s dad to put your claim in? Answer: I wasn’t considering going with him. Walt’s dad was going somewhere else. Question: Why did you walk to Dawson barefoot? Answer: I didn’t have the right shoes to walk to Dawson. But I tried my best to get there in time, until Walt came. Question: What did you think about the stampeders when Walt came and saved you? Answer: I thought Walt was protecting him when he was coming. But I thought the stampeders were really mean and cruel. YUKON NEWS Today we are interviewing the lead dog who helped Walt Masters get to Dawson. With our reporter Karry Konner How did it feel to not be the lead dog at first? I felt very irritated that the horrible lead dog was leading us in the wrong direction i kept on barking at him to act like a better lead dog. I had also felt confused that I was not leadleading the the team. What did it feel like when walt woke you up? I felt very tired and i wondered why we were up so late after a long day of going to the claims , so I asked myself “ Why were we up so late in the night?” Did you feel sad when the horrible lead dog got shot? I did feel happy that I was able to help Walt but the horrible lead dog shouldn’t have died even if he was so horrible. I wanted to make it up to him so I said a prayer when he died. Do you like being the lead dog for Walt or for the stampeders better? I liked being the lead dog for Walt better better because he was a good person. He brought us food and he helped Loren. He also didn’t whip us three to four times a day like the stampeders did. Were you tired after a long day of heading to Dawson? I did feel very tired and weary after a long day of heading to Dawson ,but when we got there I was was so happy that we finally got a break from all that work. And my father did a good job raising me. At some points it was hard without her there, but I always ended up ok. Michael Jackson: How did you feel when you heard the Irishmen talking about jumping the claims? and I’m going up against several Irish men.” But then I felt I must do something for old Loren Hall. Walt: I felt nervous, and rushed because I only had a little time to get the dogs ready. I could hear the Irishmen coming. I was almost breathless with suspense, but I was determined to keep going for lame, Loren Hall. Walt: Loren Hall was surprised to see me and he was a little angry at first because I should’ve been watching his claim, but once I told him the story he was thankful. Michael Jackson: Did you ever see the Irish men again? Walt: No, I never saw the Irish men again. I think they tried there best to stay away after that. The King of Mazy May Interview By:Lillian, Logan, and David Reporter: Kit Walker from “The Marion Press Radio” Question #1 Kit: “So Mr.Masters, how did you feel when you heard what Walt did?” Mr.Masters: “I was proud that my son did the right thing and helped Loren Hall with his claim and how he fought the Stampeders off.” Question #2 Kit: “You favor gold, but you also mine for quartz. Why? Mr.Masters: “It’s a good and easy way to make money and buy even more claim. Also theres more quartz than gold.” Question #3 Kit: “What do you think about the Stampeders?” Mr.Masters: “I think they are nasty men who need to disciplined for what they have done and how they have shot at my son, and also how they have tried to steal Loren Hall’s claim.” Question #4 Kit: “If you would have known what was going to happen in the future to your son, would you have stayed with him to help him?” Mr.Masters: “Well of course I would do anything to have helped my son out even if it meant losing a little money with the quartz.” Question #5 Kit: “Do you want your son to grow up like you?” Mr.Masters: “Well of course I want my son to be like me because I want him to be a great man and brave.” Irishman interview By Avery, Halle, and Susan What did it feel like to get whipped in the face? It hurt at first but then it just made more furious at Walt How did it feel to get your sled dogs stolen? I was angry and kind a disappointed that a kid was able to take my sled dogs. Why did you and the other stampeders want to steel Loren Halls claim? I wanted to steel Loren Halls claim because we wanted to get rich fast without having to any of the hard work. Why did you shoot at Walt? I shot at Walt because I wanted him too stop and hand over our sled dogs. Why did you cover your face after you got whipped? I covered my face because it hurt really bad and I didn’t want to let Walt see that he hit me. Did you notice that you shoot the lead dog? No not at first but after I saw Walt leave the body I figured I shot him. Our Interview of Jack London Created by: William, Noah,Matthew, and Jordan Mr. London, How do you feel about the story? “I think it was one of those story that makes you seem like you have a good life because someone else is helping others and doing what’s right.” Why did you have this setting? I chose this setting because that was where I lived during my life. Also I had thought the story would not make sense without this setting. What happened after the story. Did you become famous? Explain. “Well I did not seem very famous to people in my town, but to people who didn’t know me they thought I was famous for all of my books.” What inspired you to write this story, How does this inspire you? “Well I think it was good to write this story because it is kind of like telling my life in a story because when I was a child I had to live in the yukon which was very harsh for me.” Last of all in your opinion what do you think about the story? “I just loved the story it was an inspirational story to lots of people including myself. Also it looks like it was one of the best story book of the time.” Thank you for your time.
