Social Media Blog EDT180 Peter Choma • Yik Yak is a social media blog application. • Yik Yak is similar to Twitter, but users are anonymous. • Users can post anything that anyone near their current location can read. • Yik Yak brings local talk to you. Anonymity Shared with locals only “Feed” like Twitter Yik Yak ^ 2 • • • • Yik Yak uses your current location (1.5 mile radius). Users “Yak”, a max. 200-character post. Those within range can see each other's Yaks. Yaks can range from local events to funny jokes. ^ 3 Next to each Yak are up vote or down vote arrows. Gaining up votes will increase Yakarma. ^ Gaining down votes will decrease Yakarma.
