There are six theme parks in Disney World: Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Blizzard Beach. It opened on October 1st, 1971. Disney World is the largest and most visited resort! The resort was inspired by the dreams of Walt Disney and his creation of Disney Land in California. Lets find out what we will learn on our trip… • • • • Explain How Walt Disney World got its name Identify the location of Walt Disney World Explain how Walt Disney World was built Describe the 6 theme parks Walt Disney World was named after Walt Disney. -American film producer, director, screen writer, voice actor, & animator - Became known as one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. • Disney World - located in Orlando, Florida - Inspired by the dreams of Walt Disney - Wanted to Create a vacation resort that much that includes a wider variety of sports, recreation, uniquely-themed resort hotels and entertainment. • Epcot Typhoon Lagoon Magic Animal MGM Blizzard Beach • Epcot was opened in 1968. It is a park based on two main aspects of future society: Technological advances and different cultures of the world. • Future World consists of attractions such as: Spaceship Earth and Honey, I shrunk the Audience, and many more. • The World Showcase consists of Cultural attractions including France, Spain and Japan. Epcot Video • Magic Kingdom was the first Walt Disney theme park opened in 1971, and it is still the most famous park in the resort. The main symbol characterizing the theme park is the Cinderella castle. • Magic Kingdom is organized in 7 areas around the castle: Main Street, Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, and Mickey’s Toontown Fair. Magic Kingdom Video • Home to more than 1,700 animals from 250 species, across 500 acres of land, Disney’s animal kingdom is the largest animal theme park in the world! • Disney’s animal kingdom is spread into 7 different areas: Oasis, Discovery Island Area, Camp Minnie – Mickey, Africa, Rafiki’s Planet Watch Area, Asia, Dinoland U.S.A Area. Animal Kingdom Video • Offers behind- the- scene glimpses of Hollywood action with live shows, thrilling attractions, backstage tours and special events that only happen in this Disney Park dedicated to entertainment • Some attractions Include: The American Idol Experience, Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania, and many more! HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS Fantasmic Show • One of the 2 water parks in Walt Disney World. Features attractions for the whole family. You can find fast water slides to a surf pool. • You can find attractions such as: Castaway creek, mayday falls, sandy white beach, Keehaul falls. Typhoon Lagoon Video • One of the 2 water parks in Walt Disney World’s resort. Blizzard beach features one of the world’s tallest and fastest free-falling waterslides, as wall as slides and rides for the whole family. • The Park contains attractions including: Runoff rapids, Chair Lift, Ski Patrol training camp, and many more exciting attractions. Blizzard Beach Video • Dine with dinosaurs, watch live music and shows, shop at the Disney shopping center • Divided into 3 sections - Downtown Disney West Side, Downtown Disney Market Place, and Pleasure Island. Video • Includes top notch restaurants, a 24-screen AMC Pleasure Island Movie theater, and shows the Cirque du Soleil La Nouba live entertainment show and the Disney Quest Indoor Interactive theme park. • Other attractions include : Bongos Cuban Café, House of Blues, Planet Hollywood, and Wolfgang Puck Café. West Side • Outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex. Contains the largest Disney character shop in the world. Market Place • Thought to be named after Pleasure Island in Pinocchio.
