Wonders of the World
A little information
• The list of new Seven Wonders of the
World was released on 7th July of
2007 in Lisbon, Portugal.
• The public from all over the world
voted for their favorites.
• Out of a list of 25 finalist monuments
only 7 of them were chosen as the
wonders of the world.
Christ the Redeemer
It is a 38 meters tall statue standing on the Corcovado
Mountain overlooking Rio de Janeiro,Brazil. It is a symbol of
peace.
The Great Wall of China
It's the largest man-made monument on this earth that was
built to attack and send the Mongol tribes out of China. It was
built by the first emperor of China Qin Shi Huang.
The Colosseum
Construction started under the emperor Vespasian and was
completed under King Titus. It was the sports stadium for the
Roman Empire where fights and games were being played.
Machu Picchu
It is in Peru in South America. A city built on the
mountain known as Machu Picchu by Incas .
Petra
It is a symbol of Jordan as well as its most visited tourist
attraction. It lies on the slope of mount Hor.
Taj Mahal
It is in India. It is a white marble tomb which was
built by Shah Jahan, Mughal emperor of India in
memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
Chichen Itza
It is situated in Mexico. It was an ancient
city built by the Maya civilisation.
