

Review: If the noun ending includes the letter c, the adjective ending may change to –
cious, which sounds like /shuss/.
 Grace + ous = gracious (drop the e and add ious)

A person who has grace (a beautiful manner) is a gracious (well-mannered) person.
 Space + ous = spacious (drop the e and add ious)
 An apartment with a lot of space is a spacious (large) apartment.
 Tenacity + ous = tenacious (drop the ity and add ious)
 A person who has tenacity (stubbornness or drive) is a tenacious (stubborn) person.
 Atrocity + ous = atrocious (extremely cruel)
 Fallacy + ous = fallacious (misleading)
 Precocity + ous = precocious (advanced for one’s age)
