Has been used in NSI for approx six years with over 1000 sites
The four main purposes for the creation of a SharePoint site in NSI





Teacher collaboration
Classroom collaboration
Projects
Intranet unit sites
Used in the Institute for various reasons by giving



easy access to shared resources including classroom handouts,
assessments, lesson plans, session plans, presentations etc
distributing information through announcements and calendar lists
useful links related to industry, course, other resources
Logging onto SharePoint

All NSI SharePoint sites start with:


Use Cost Centre codes to identify site



Username: nsi\amatthews13
Password: password
Students enter logon details as follows:


Eg http://nsi.det.nsw.edu.au/2021
Don’t go through the DET Portal – enter url or navigate from Intranet
– Organisational Sites
Staff enter logon details as follows:


http://nsi.det.nsw.edu.au
Username:edu\amanda.matthews7
Password: password
If logging in from home must use backslash ‘ \ ’

Designs the site structure
Can create Webparts ie. Document Libraries and Lists
Full Control

Can contribute to Document Libraries and Lists etc

Can only read information on the site
Highest level of access for students
Most NSI SharePoint sites give all NSI staff Read access
Only held by SharePoint Administrators – KIS
Can create subsites and manage permission
Owner

Role developed by KIS so that we can identify the owner of the site
What is a Webpart



They are the "building blocks" of pages in
SharePoint
SharePoint includes built-in Web Parts that you can
use as soon as you have created your site
Different Webparts include –
Document Libraries
 Picture Libraries
 Lists – including Links, Announcements, Tasks, Calendars
 Discussion Boards
 Surveys


Go to the NSI SharePoint training site –

Click on SharePoint Site Request Form in the
QuickLaunch bar
Ensure that you fill in all the details as this will help
us create your site correctly
Once you have your site contact Knowledge &
Information services for help is setting up your site
and further training
