ASHRAE 90.1-2010
In addition to all new construction, the new
code applies to “alteration” of even 10% of
the building lighting system if the installed
LPD increases.

Automatic Lighting Shutoff – ASHRAE 90.1 Section 9.4.1.1
Time clock or occupancy sensors.
Required for all lighting not needed for 24-hour
operation or occupant safety.
Manual on or automatic on to 50% power.
Except: corridors and stairwells
restrooms
entrance areas and lobbies
Automatic off requirement after 30 minutes in many
spaces.

shut off at night.
