35th JUBILEE OF
IWC THE HAGUE
The historic ‘Kasteel de Wittenburg’
in Wassenaar served as the elegant
backdrop for the festive High Tea,
commemorating 35 years of IWC
The Hague.
Mrs. Hanneke van Eekelen, member and co-founder of IWC The Hague, made a
speech reminiscing about the early years, while behind her three and a half decades of IWC-history unfolded on the screen in a slide-show which was painstakingly put together by our valued club-photographer, Diny van Herwijnen. Next
our President, Karin O’Flynn, took the floor and in her speech once again underscored the importance of friendship and mutual understanding, which is arguably the most important characteristic of IWC The
Hague. An impressive number of 180 members attended the festive celebration. This large number of ladies,
seated at several round tables, merrily chatting away,
made for a pleasant sight and signified the very core of
the IWC, namely friendship and bonding. In addition to
the delicious sweet and savory delicacies that were
served at the High Tea, there was also musical entertainment provided by Romanian musician Nicolae Pirvu, who treated the IWC ladies and the other guests to his a performance of his
folk music. All in all the Jubilee celebrations were a great success and we can all
look back on a wonderful afternoon in ‘Kasteel de Wittenburg,” and also, as
Hanneke van Eekelen aptly mentioned in her speech, look forward to the next
35 years of IWC The Hague.
