Een lage ruimte met een gewelfd plafond van rode
baksteen. Op de muren verticale lijnen in houtskool,
daarbinnen letters in pastelkleuren.
Dit is mijn eerste waarneming van de ruimte van
Galeria AT.
Ik weet wat de lijnen en kleuren voorstellen. Namen
van onlangs gestorven kunstenaars, voornamelijk
uit Nederland en Polen, sommigen mij bekend, de
meeste niet.
De ruimte is leeg, maar toch vol van hun aanwezigheid.

A low room with a vaulted, redbrick ceiling. On the
walls, vertical lines in charcoal, inside, letters in
pastel colours.
This is my first impression of the space at Galeria AT.
I know what the lines and colours represent. Names
of recently deceased artists, mainly from the
Netherlands and Poland, some known to me, but
most of them not.
The room is empty, but full of their presence.

Pusta przestrzeń ze sklepionym sufitem, wyłożonym
czerwonymi cegłami. Na ścianach pionowe linie
narysowane węglem, pomiędzy liniami litery w
pastelowych kolorach.
To jest moja pierwsza impresja z Galerii AT.
Ja wiem co przedstawiają uwidocznione linie i
kolory. Imiona artystów, którzy niedawno od nas
odeszli. Większość z Holandii i Polski, niektóre są mi
znane, większość nie.
Przestrzeń jest pusta a jednak wypełniona ich
obecnością.

In 2011 werkte ik een maand op uitnodiging in
Vertoningsruimte Argument te Tilburg.
Als motto voor deze periode koos ik:
(DE) KUNST(ENAAR)
(HET) WERK(EN)
Ter inspiratie maakte ik eerst een opstelling van
werken die ik vanaf 1980 gemaakt heb. De werken
stonden op pallets langs de rechtermuur, deels
ingepakt, deels gedemonteerd.

De muren links en achter liet ik in eerste instantie
leeg. Geïnspireerd door het opgeslagen werk achter
mij begon ik met houtskool te tekenen.
Er waren 3 presentatiemomenten.
Op de eerste presentatie toonde ik een hekwerk in
contouren.
Voor de tweede presentatie had ik het hekwerk
gevuld met titels van werken op de pallets.
Voor de derde presentatie wiste ik de tekening van
het hek.
Daarna bracht ik de tekst aan Hic Sunt Dracones
(Hier Zijn Draken), ooit op landkaarten de
aanduiding voor Terra Incognita.
In 2011, upon invitation, I spent a month working at
Vertoningsruimte Argument in Tilburg.
As a motto for this period, I chose:
(THE) ART(IST)
(THE) WORK(S)
For inspiration, first I made a compilation of works
I’ve produced since 1980.
The works were displayed on pallets along the
righthand wall, partially packed and partially
disassembled.
Initially, I left the walls to the left and at the back
empty. Inspired by the work stored behind me I
started drawing with charcoal.
There were 3 presentation moments.
For the first presentation, I marked the outlines of
a fence.
For the second, I covered the fence with the titles
of the works on the pallets.
For the third, I erased the fence drawing.
Then, I applied the text Hic Sunt Dracones (Here
Be Dragons), once displayed on maps to represent
Terra Incognita.
W 2011 pracowałem miesiąc w Tilburgu na
zaproszenie Vertoningsruimte Argument.
W nawiązaniu do tego kresu wybrałem motto:
ART(YSTA)
PRACA(OWAĆ)
Jako inspiracje wysławiłem najpierw moje prace,
które wykonaniem od 1980 roku.
Prace te stały na drewnianych paletach wzdłuż
ściany, częściowo jeszcze zapakowane, częściowo
już zmontowane.
Ściany lewą i tylną pozostawiłem jeszcze puste.
Zainspirowany zebranymi za mną pracami zacząłem
rysować węglem.
Były 3 prezentacje.
W czasie pierwszej prezentacji przedstawiłem
drewniany płot w konturach.
W czasie drugiej prezentacji wypełniłem szczeble
płotu tytułami moich prac ustawionych na paletach.
W czasie trzeciej prezentacji wymazałem narysowany płot.
Następnie naniosłem tekst Hic Sunt
Dracones (Tutaj Są Smoki) kiedyś
oznaczenie na mapach Terra Incognita.
