美鑑識中心 命名李昌鈺 (Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science)
以國際鑑識權威李昌鈺為名的鑑識中心，前天在美國康乃狄克州正式啟用。
李昌鈺在台灣成長、求學，留美時專攻刑事鑑定，後因以科學證據屢破別人
破不了的「冷案」，揚名國際。他服務多年的康州紐海芬大學，特以其名為
鑑識中心新大樓命名。
李昌鈺期許這個研究中心成為鑑識科學重鎮，「不僅是美國第一，也是全球
第一。」這座鑑識科學研究中心耗資約4.29億元台幣，兼顧實務及學習用途。
走進一樓，參觀者立刻看到地面透視雷達、電訊鑑識網路衛星系統，及高強
度雷射等先進器材。
1998年時任康州警政廳長的李昌鈺，與原本就有鑑識課程的紐海芬大學聯手，
創立鑑識科學研究中心，近年該校成為有志學習鑑識者嚮往的知識殿堂，目
前有500名學生在此攻讀鑑識。新大樓啟用當晚，李昌鈺就在那上了第一堂
課，他說新大樓「很棒，一磚一瓦都是我的孩子。」大二生德萊斯說，自從
高二解剖過一個豬胚胎後，就迷上鑑識。學校董事長卡普蘭更盛讚李昌鈺對
學校的貢獻，「終於有個能襯托大師的設備了。」

A center for forensic science, named after international
authority of forensic science Dr. Henry C. Lee, was officially
opened two days ago in New Haven, Connecticut. Dr. Lee
was raised and educated in Taiwan. He went to the U.S. for
advanced (or graduate) study, specialized in criminal
forensics. He made (built up) his international fame by solving
many criminal frozen cases and long-standing unsolved
judicial cases with scientific evidence (proof). The new
building of Forensic Science Center is (was) named after him
by University of New Haven of Connecticut, where he has
served for many years.
李昌鈺期許這個研究中心成為鑑識科學重鎮，「不僅是美國第一，也是全球
第一。」這座鑑識科學研究中心耗資約4.29億元台幣，兼顧實務及學習用途。

Dr. Henry Lee hopes the research center to become the flagship of forensic
science. [He wants to see that] this is not only No. 1 in the U.S., but also No.
1 in the world. The Forensic Science Research Center costs about 429
Millions NTD to build, and it covers practical and educational (learning)
purposes. On the first floor, the visitors would immediately see several
advanced facilities (or several pieces of advanced equipment), such as, the
ground penetrating radar, the network satellite system for electronic
forensics, and the high intensity laser.

In 1998, Dr. Lee, then the Head of the Police Department of Connecticut,
collaborated (joined) with the University of New Haven to create a forensic
science research center. The university has already had a degree course in
forensics. In recent years, the university has become the temple of
knowledge for those interested in pursuing (learning) forensic science. At
present, 500 students have enrolled (or registered) in this class. In the
evening of the official opening of the new building, Dr. Lee gave the first
class. He said, the new building is “excellent, and each single brick and each
single tile are all my kids”. Sophomore德萊斯 said, “since I first dissected
(anatomized) a pig embryo in my second year of high school, I became
fascinated (enchanted with , excited) by forensics”. The chairman of the
University Board (of Directors) Mr. Kaplan praised highly Dr. Lee’s
contribution to the university. He added “Finally, we have the facilities that
match (the reputation) of the grand master”.
