Choosing Your Labels
•
•
•
•
Window, Door or Skylight?
Certified to CSA A440.2 or NFRC 100 / 200?
Bilingual vs. Unilingual (NFRC only)
Certified for physical performance? If yes then
A440.0 or NAFS?
• ENERGY STAR Label choice: map or no map?
• Which ENERGY STAR qualification zone(s) ?
• Colour, grey scale or patterned?
Things to Remember When
Labelling
• Label with zones according to October 1st specification
• Include an NRCan Reference Number, Model Code or
NFRC Certification Number
• Always show the correct zone of qualification. For
example, it is not correct to show qualification to
Zones AB even though the model qualifies for Zones
ABC
• For NFRC certified windows and sliding glass doors,
put the correct ER value in the ENERGY STAR portion
of the label
• Tell your customers to keep their temporary labels
• READ the guidelines

and evaluation
Phase 2 Considerations
• 2008 Enermodal Report
– Lower levels by one zone again for Phase 2
•
•
•
•
Review U-factor cap and minimum ER values
Lower air leakage maximum?
Extend physical testing requirement to doors?
Competing considerations:
–
–
–
–
Energy savings
Cost to consumers
Restrict choice?
Cost and impact on industry
