What does PARCC stand for?
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for
College and Careers.
The Belief . . .
● Assessment should work as a tool for enhancing teaching and
learning
● Fully aligned to the CCSS
● Ensure that every child is on a path to college and career
readiness
● Provide parents and teachers with timely information to
identify students who may be falling behind and need extra
help
Required Assessments
● There are two required assessments set to
deploy through PARCC for both mathematics
and English Language Arts Literacy.
● What are they?
Performance Based Assessment
● Given after 75% of the school year
● Extended tasks, applications of concepts and
skills
● ELA - Writing effectively when analyzing text;
research simulation
● Math - Solving multi-step problems requiring
abstract reasoning, precision, perseverance
and strategic use of tools
PBA Timelines by Grade
Grade 6 and 7:
-ELA - March 9th, 10th and 11th
-Math - March 12th and 13th
Grade 8:
-ELA - March 16th, 17th and 18th
-Math (and Algebra I) - March 19th and 20th
