Leucippus:
-Born in early 5th century BCE in Miletus
-Died in late 5th century
-Founded a school around 440BCE
Democritus:
-Born in 460 BCE in Abdera
-Died in 370 BCE
-Travelled a lot and linked many scientists
research to his own
Atomic Hypothesis
Everything is composed of “atoms”
There is empty space between
“atoms”
“Atoms” are indestructible
There is an infinite number of kinds
of “atoms” which differ in shape
and size
The shape of the “atoms”
determines their connectivity

Democritus:
