7th Grade Civics Training • Review Florida Statue 1008.22 • Discuss the Florida Civics EOC • Review the Standards – CPALMS and NGSSS • Discuss the Civics Benchmark Tests • Review the Proposed Pacing Guide and Curriculum Map (2012) Florida Statute 1008.22 (2013) During the 2012-2013 school year, an end-of-course assessment in civics education shall be administered as a field test at the middle school level. During the 20132014 school year, each student’s performance on the statewide, standardized end-of-course assessment in civics education shall constitute 30 percent of the student’s final course grade. Beginning with the 2014-2015 school year, a student must earn a passing score on the end-of-course assessment in civics education in order to pass the course and be promoted from the middle grades. Civics EOC - 2014 • Testing Window - April 28 – May 9, 2014 • The 2014 EOC will be a baseline administration and will constitute 30% of a student’s grade • Standards will be set with the 2015 Civics EOC test. Civics EOC – 2014 • Students without accommodations will be allowed 120 minutes to complete the EOC test. • The test must be administered in one session. • The Civics EOC will have an item range of between 52-56 questions.
