our WINE journey
Italy is home to some of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world, and Italian wines
are known worldwide for their broad variety, grapes are grown in almost every region of
the country.
Etruscans and Greek settlers produced wine in Italy before the Romans started their own
vineyards in the 2nd century B.C. Roman grape-growing and winemaking was prolific and
well-organized, pioneering large-scale production and storage techniques like barrel-making
and bottling.
As you can see from the map to the left here, the extensive latitudinal range of the country
permits wine growing from the Alps in the North bordering France, Switzerland and Austria to
almost-within-sight of Africa in the South.
The fact that Italy is a peninsula with a long shoreline adjacent to both the Adriatic sea on one
side to the Mediterranean sea on the other, contributes to moderating climates to the coastal
wine regions. Extensive mountains and foothills provide many altitudes for grape growing and
a variety of climate and soil conditions.
All in, Italy is perfectly set up for producing a vast range of amazing wines for every varietal.
We are passionate about this and want to ‘show off’ Italy and all its produce so we have
created an ‘All Italian‘ wine list for you to enjoy.
We have researched, visited and sought out, the very best examples of each varietal, by
region, that Italy has to offer.
From the cooler Northern climates of the Fruili-Venezia Giulia region world renowned for
producing Sauvignons and Pinots to Tuscany in the Central region producing amazing
Chianti’s and Super Tuscans, to the South and Islands where the grapes are so much tougher
to deal with the intense sun so creating some amazing Nero d’avola and Fiano grapes.
As such we have divided the country up into 3 ‘bite size’ chunks: North, Central and South &
Islands, so enabling you to understand the relationship of the “terroir” of the geographical
location, to the grape varietal you are drinking.
We want you to experience as many of these different wines as possible so we are offering an
impressive selection of over 25 wines by the glass and variety to hopefully allow you to go on
a wine journey with us.
So keen are we for you to try some of our finest wines & champagnes you will notice we have
only added a nominal mark up. Salute!
