The winery Podere alla Quercia di Facchin Fabio e Stenco Ornella, has been existing in the Colli Euganei
(Padua area) since the end of 1800. At that time, wine-growing had to cope with serious problems such as
oidium, downy mildew and grape phylloxera and the family Facchin succeeded in facing immense
difficulties. Felice, Fabio’s grand-grandfather, thanks to his creativity and love for work, managed to buy a
new ground and to begin a new life in spite of many sacrifices. Since 1989 Fabio and his wife, the fourth
generation of wine producers, have successfully mixed their passion for the territory with the most
advanced technological progress in the oenological field. In fact, at the beginning of the new millennium
and considering the new market requirements, the winery has given a radical change to its activity and
thanks to the important collaboration with the oenologist Andrea Boaretti, has started a new production
which is specialized in processing sparkling wine of Colli Euganei.

The denomination "Colli Euganei" exists since 1969. One of the wines that can use the DOC denomination
is Moscato Fior d'Arancio. The product specification identifies the production area, which coincides with the
area of the Euganean hills: Colli Euganei.

THE TERRITORY
Suddenly they emerge from the plain with their profiles now steep and precipitous, now soft: "Mountains"
the inhabitants call them "Mountains". The Colli Euganei are geographically located about 60 km west of
Venice and about 80 km east of Verona.
The Hills are of volcanic origin, with typical conical shape that rise to the sky like an oasis in the Po valley.
The climate is continental-Mediterranean, it reflects the influence of the nearby Adriatic Sea which
moderates winter temperatures, good rainfall that reaches about 600-800 mm rain year. Land originated
from the weathering of volcanic rocks "Trachite" skeleton with good well drained and rich in minerals and
trace elements.

It is wandering aimlessly through the streets and ancient trails that you can perhaps better understand the Colli
Euganei, grasp the continuous change of the soil, the variety of aspects.
The presence of man since prehistoric times, the uninterrupted succession of human communities and civilizations
flourishing and industrious (the beautiful Museo Archeologico di Este really deserves more than one visit) have
slowly transformed the landscape with crops occupying large spaces. At the time of the Romans this area was
famous for the nearby thermal baths and to be located halfway between Rome and Vienna. A location near the
Euganean hot springs still bears the name in memory of the ancient roads of the Roman Empire, "Mezzavia." .

In more recent history the Nobles who lived in the territory at the end of the last century, were among
the first to introduce in the Veneto wine varieties of transalpine cousins, raising the already high
quality of the produced wines.
Present since ever, the grape is by far the most widespread crop: the combination of soil type and
climatic factors make the Euganean Hills an area highly suitable for the production of fine wines.

Besides the already mentioned Este Museum of the Colli Euganei offer numerous other tourist
attractions: in Arquà Petrarca for example, lived and is still buried the poet Francesco Petrarca; In
Teolo, at the Palace of the Vicars was created a contemporary art museum dedicated to Dino
Formaggio while in Praglia you can visit a beautiful Benedictine Abbey; in Abano and Montegrotto,
now known all over the world, you can enjoy the SPAs with its water.
The Euganean Hills are easily accessible by the A4 motorway for those coming from the north (exit
Grisignano di Zocco, West Padova, Padova Est) or via the motorway A13 coming from the south (exit
Monselice, Euganean Spas).

In recent years the winery has received enormous satisfaction by participating in
international wine competitions and received several gold medals and high scores
for both its quality and the quality / price ratio of its products. From here, the recent
decision to open up more and more to the foreign market.

The winery Podere La Quercia, with its own brand "La Ceriola" has an important production potential.
Family Facchin is now seeking for long-lasting good collaboration with serious importers, giving the
willingness to commit to their side in the promotion of the brand.
The most important productions are the Moscato Spumante and Fiori d’Arancio together with an
interesting Prosecco.
Our doors are open to anyone who is seriously interested in the challenge of a quite new brand, but
which has already proved to have a great potential for quality, value for money and packaging. Very

Harvesting period:
first days of september
Wine-making process: preparation of the sparkling base by pressing and
maceration for 6 hours at controlled temperature of 12°C. Separation of
cleaned must by filtering, stroage in steel tanks with controlled temperature at
0° C up to bottling.
Sparkling process:
The must is fermented in autoclave according to the
Martinotti method for 15 days so a fine perlage is obtained.
Ageing process:
ready for consumption
Taste and smell:
pale yellow color with greenish hues. Aromatic smell with
fresh fruit notes. Fine and persistent perlage, the froth is fluffy and pleasant.
Sweet, intense and strong aroma, slightly acid. Good
flavor and persistent
taste.
Matching:
ideal for maching cookies and dry cakes.
To be served at:
6°C

Wine-making process: preparation of the sparkling base by pressing and

Wine-making process: hand harvest, and preparation of the base wine with
great attention to the fruity and floral notes. Soft pressing and decanting of the
must at 6° C. for about 15 hours. Separation of the clean must by decanting.
Inoculation of fermentation and controlling at 15 – 16° C. At finish of sparkling
process, resting on the fine lees up to the bottling.
Sparkling process:
Long and slow sparkling process at low temperature.
Ageing process:
ready for consumption
Taste and nose:
pleasant result. The long experience of the winemaker
knows how to keep the typical varietal aromatic notes of prosecco with hints of
wisteria and green apple.
Matching:
ideal as “aperitivo” or to match with light starters or fish
starters.
To be served at:
10°C
Alcohol:
11,0 % vol.
