In order to get closer to nature, we use fast open
boats. This is an excellent way to experience the
Aurlandsfjord, Nærøyfjord and the wildlife.
We dress you in floatation suits, goggles and hats,
so you will stay warm during the FjordSafari. You
are seated forwards in the boat for the best view
and also have binoculars at hand.
The guide will make stops along the way to tell
you about the fjord, local history and wildlife,
share stories, tales and legends.
We will get you closer to:
• The Aurlandsfjord the start of world heritage area.
• The Nærøyfjord, the wonders of the fjords!
• Scout for seals, small whales and eagles
• Undredal, charming village by the fjord.
• Stigen, the hanging farm (360 m amsl)
• Beitelen, the gateway to the Nærøyfjord (675 m)
• Sagfossen, the largest waterfall by the fjord (600 m)
On the longer tours you will also see:
• Dyrdal, idyllic village by the fjord
• B akka village, narrowest point of the fjord
(200 m across)
• Gudvangen, the end of the fjord. Very scenic.
BASIC FJORDSAFARI
INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE NÆRØYFJORD
Our turning point lies in the middle of the world
heritage area next to Sagfossen, the greatest
waterfall in the area. From there we have
a beautiful view of more than half of the
Nærøyfjord.

Enjoy the spectacular scenery from our
open-boats as we go all the way from Flåm
to Gudvangen, and then back to Flåm.

HERITAGE TASTE
Experience the Nærøyfjord on both sides and visit
Undredal. Our turning point is Gudvangen similar
to the Heritage tour. We go ashore in Undredal, a
small village squeezed in between tall mountains.
Undredal is inhabited by 70 people and almost
350 goats! The specialty of this village is the
production of goat cheese. You will taste brown
and white goat cheese! You will also hear about
the tradition of cheese production, and you may
listen to folktales and folksongs.
Duration: 3 hours

Sognefjord is the longest and deepest fjord in
Norway, and divides into several fjord arms. Two
of them are our special area!
Me kombinerar båttur i Nærøyfjorden med eit
besøk i den vesle geitebygda Undredal. Bygda
ligg idyllisk til nede ved fjorden, omringa av høge
fjell. Her bur det omlag 70 menneske og 350
geiter. Me får smaksprøvar av den verdsberømte
geitosten og høyre om tradisjonane med stølsdrift
og geitehald.

Bli med på ein tur innover Nærøyfjorden og kom
tett på verdsarven. Me køyrer heile vegen frå

HIKING TRIPS / VANDRETURAR
We follow a steep path from the pier up to the
road that we follow all the way to Skjerdal Farm.
We walk the old farm road from Skjerdal to our
destination, Leim. You can enjoy amazing views
of the fjord and mountains, and enjoy beautiful
waterfalls along the way.
HIKING IN THE AURLAND VALLEY
The fabled Aurland valley attracts all kinds of
people every summer. Young and old, Norwegians
and foreigners, experienced and inexperienced
come in large numbers to walk and enjoy this
spectacular valley. The hike down the valley is
a travel through time and the local guide will
gladly share stories with you. Aurland valley was
an early route between the east and the west
of Norway, and has been used all the way back
from the Viking age up until about 1900. You will
be surrounded by majestic mountains, beautiful
waterfalls, old farms and a rich flora. At the same
time you have to look where you put your feet,
the path is narrow so you have to be aware. The
mountain farm Sinjarheim, is a perfect location
to have a short brake. Here you can get to know
both two-legged and four-legged species. This is
also a perfect location to get some rest, food and
sun, while looking at the amazing scenery.
At Leim you will get a guided tour and an insight
into how they make their goat cheese, before
enjoying a delicious lunch on the patio. Goat
cheese tasting for starters and a main course
based on local produce. There will be plenty of
time to enjoy the beautiful views and see the
goats before we hike back down where a bus will
pick you up and drive you back to Flåm.
The trip can be done in all kinds of weather. No
need for prior knowledge from the participants,
but it is preferable to have good physical shape
to walk up the hills. The tour goes from 0 to 360
meter amsl. You need good walking shoes and
ordinary outdoor clothing, or waterproof clothing
if needed. Bring a bottle of water if the weather
is warm.

EIT STØLSEVENTYR
Turen startar med Basic FjordSafari, som går inn
i hjarta av Nærøyfjorden med den storslegne
Sagfossen. Me vender attende på andre sida av
fjorden. I Aurlandsfjorden legg me til brygga i
Skjerdal. Der startar fotturen opp til geitestølen
Leim. På Leim er det omvisning og innføring i
tilverkinga av geitost. Etterpå nytast lunsj ute
på terrassen med ostesmaking til forrett og
hovudrett basert på lokale og eigne råvarar. Det
vert tid til å nyta utsikta og helsa på geitene før
me tek turen ned igjen til brygga. Der ein vert me
henta med Fjord Safari båt tilbake til Flåm.

The tour starts with a Basic FjordSafari
which takes you in to the heart of the famous
Nærøyfjord and the beautiful waterfall
Sagfossen. We turn around and head back to the
Aurlandsfjord and the pier in Skjerdal. Here we
start the hike up to the mountain farm, Leim.

fossefall, gamle gardsbruk og ein rik flora.
På fjellstølen Sinjarheim er det fint å ta seg
ein pust i bakken, få med seg litt sol og stifte
bekjentskap med tobeinte og firebeinte. Ein bør
vera i grei fysisk form for å gjennomføra turen.

FLÅM VALLEY – FROM THE
MOUNTAINS TO THE FJORD
Join us on a tour through the history of the
spectacular Flåm valley. We take the world
famous Flåm Railway to Myrdal, and during the
20 km long train journey you will see some of
the most magnificent Norwegian scenery. The
steep gradient and the bold tunnels are proof of
some of the most skillful engineering carried out
in Norwegian railway history. On the way back
down to the fjord, your guide will tell you the
history of the many mountain farms you pass.
There will be a stop at Rallarrosa mountain farm
in Kårdalen where you get a guided tour and a
short insight in the making of their goat cheese.
After cheese tasting and a simple lunch, you have
time to see some of the many goats before the
journey continues back to Flåm.

i Kårdalen får du omvisning og eit innblikk i
ysteprosessen før ostesmaking og lunsj. Her har
dei om lag 110 geiter og 40 kje som du får tid til
å helse på. Du får oppleve fleire spektakulære

The Aurlandsfjord and the Nærøyfjord is
surrounded by magnificent mountain peaks.
There are many opportunities for day trips, and
we in Flåm Guide Service can take you to the top.
Summits like Blåskavlen, Tarven, Ravnanosi are
all summits of more than 1200 m amsl and offer
great views and scenery you will never forget.
With local guides you will experience another
side of the world heritage area. You can enjoy the
view towards Flåm or have a glimpse of the peaks
of Jotunheimen in the distance. This is a the total
experience from the mountain to the fjord.

SNOWSHOE HIKING
Come and experience the Norwegian winter
on snowshoes! We have daily guided hikes in
our local mountains to Stegastein viewpoint in
Aurland. Your guide will tell you about the unique
local nature, and hot beverages will be served
during the hike.

Daily depatures
We finish the hike with sledges and fun in the
hills behind the hotel. We light a fire and enjoy
hot drinks.

to ‘fjord play’ with ax throwing and archery.
