What is an A/D?

Works in conjunction with the orifice tube to match the refrigerant flow rate to HVAC system cooling
demands

A accumulator dehydrator assembly containing a straight
trumpet tube as opposed to a “J” tube.

The straight tube does not permit the filing with refrigerant
during the compressor off cycle. Therefore, there is no liquid
column to accelerate rapidly and boil off violently. This
reaction causes high energy to be imparted to the A/D which
manifests itself as a broad frequency noise known as
“bump”.
