MOONS!
Some Facts About Our Moon!
Compared to other moons in our solar
system, ours is the largest in comparison
to its host planet.
It is about 1/4 the size of earth.
The distance between the Earth and the
moon averages about 240,000 miles.
Some Facts About Our Moon!
Gravity is about 1/6 of that on earth.
Which means that if you weigh 180 lbs
on earth you would weigh only 30 lbs on
the moon.
The diameter of the moon is 2,160 miles.
About the distance from Los Angeles to
Chicago.
Some Facts About Our Moon!
Did you know that the rotation of the
moon on its axis takes the same amount
of time as it takes the moon to complete
one orbit of the Earth, which is about
27.3 days?
That is why we see the same side of the
the moon at all times!
Some Facts About Our Moon!
The moon orbits the Earth at an average
speed of 2,300 miles an hour.
Since there is no atmosphere on the moon
the temperature ranges from 243 degrees
Fahrenheit in the sun to -272 degrees in
the dark.
Some Facts About Our Moon!
On July 20, 1969 Neil Armstrong and
Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, on Apollo 11, were
the first humans to set foot on the moon.
Not only does the Moon give us light at
night but it also gives us our tides!

The Moon Keeps the Earth Tilted On Its
Axis of 23.5 Degrees.
This Tilt Gives Us Our Seasons!
What If…
We Had No
Moon?
What If… We Had No Moon?
“What would life on earth be like without the
moon? Well, chances are, there wouldn’t be any
life on earth without the moon. Life – if it had
started at all – would still be in the earliest
stages of evolution. Scientist use the latest
computer simulations to show how an ancient
rogue planet – Orpheus – collided with the
earth millions of years ago, producing a sizable
chunk of debris that eventually became our
moon. If that collision had never occurred, we
would live in a very different place.
What If… We Had No Moon?
Imagine a moon-less weather report – blizzards
over the Sahara, floodwaters swallowing the
Pyramids, 90 degree temperatures in
Antarctica. As the earth wobbles on its axis –
unsecured by the moon’s gravitational pull –
the polar caps would grow and recede at
frightening rates. And without the moon, our
planet would spin much faster – meaning four
hour days and searing temperatures.”

What If… We Had No Moon?
We would have 6 – 8 hour days
• The winds would blow 100 – 200 mph
• There would be no seasons
• The tides would be nonexistent
• The oceans would be gone
• There would be no atmosphere
• There would be no human life
•
What If… We Had No Moon?
Jupiter
• 300 times more massive than earth
• Diameter about 10 times the size of earth's
• Rotates every 10 hours
• Winds average 100 – 200 mph
• Storms stay for long periods of time

Imagine donning a gown and mask
and walking into the operating room of
a trauma center. Everywhere you look
there is order and neatness – after all,
surgeons need to have instant access to
a multitude of surgical supplies. Lives
are at stake, and time is of the utmost
importance.
Now, consider for a moment if
someone were to suggest, to you,
that this precisely ordered surgical
room just happened by mere
chance, and that every single item
just “happened” to find its way there
by chance!
Sound Ridiculous?
Consider, then, how ridiculous it
is for men dressed in white lab
coats to stand before college
students and proclaim that this
finely tuned Universe just
“happened by accident” without
any Divine intervention.
It is a fact that the Universe is
delicately ordered and complex, far
more so than any operating room.
Yet, we continue to be told that this
magnificent world and Universe in
which we live, that includes you and
me, are the result of an cosmological
accident that happened some 14
billion years ago.
“In the beginning God
created the heavens and
the earth.”
Genesis 1:1
Genesis 1:14-19…
Then God said, "Let there be lights in
the firmament of the heavens to divide
the day from the night; and let them be
for signs and seasons, and for days and
years; and let them be for lights in the
firmament of the heavens to give light
on the earth; and it was so.
Then God made two great lights: the
greater light to rule the day, and the
lesser light to rule the night. He made
the stars also. God set them in the
firmament of the heavens to give light
on the earth, and to rule over the day
and over the night, and to divide the
light from the darkness. And God saw
that it was good. So the evening and
the morning were the fourth day.”
Then God said, "Let there be lights in
the firmament of the heavens to divide
the day from the night; and let them be
for signs and seasons, and for days and
years;
Genesis 1:14
God Created You and Me!
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our
image, according to Our likeness; let them
have dominion over the fish of the sea, over
the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over
all the earth and over every creeping thing
that creeps on the earth.” So God created
man in His own image; in the image of God
He created him; male and female He created
them.
God Created You and Me!
Then God blessed them, and God said to
them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth
and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of
the sea, over the birds of the air, and over
every living thing that moves on the earth.
Then God saw everything that He had made,
and indeed it was very good. So the evening
and the morning were the sixth day.”
Genesis 1:26-28;31
God Will Destroy the World!
“But the day of the Lord will come as a
thief in the night, in which the heavens
will pass away with a great noise, and the
elements will melt with fervent heat; both
the earth and the works that are in it will
be burned up.”
II Peter 3:10
Sin Separates Us From God!
“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not
shortened, that it cannot save; nor His
ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your
iniquities have separated you from your
God; and your sins have hidden His face
from you, so that He will not hear.”
Isaiah 59:1-2
Sin Separates Us From God!
“For all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God.”

gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
