In international trade, during cargo transportation
from the port of shipment to port of the destination,
there are a lot of risks. Cargo transportation insurance
is to protect the interests of importers/exporters from
possible financial losses caused by the risks. Almost all
of the international cargo transport should be insured
against the potential losses and damage.

I. The Definition of Insurance 保险的定义
International cargo transportation insurance refers to
that the insured (被保险人，投保人) covers insurance for
the goods with the insurer (保险人) before shipment.
In insurance, the party who insures others against
possible loss or damage and undertakes to make payment
in case of loss is called the insurer or underwriter; the party
who is insured against possible loss and to whom payment
coveting the loss will be made is called the insured.
The written contract made between the insurer and the
insured is named as the insurance policy or the insurance
certificate.

cover the insurance, the following contents should be
included in the letter:
(1) Mention the contract, goods, etc.
(2) Suggest the terms of payment and the reason.
(3) Wish the reader to accept and ship the goods early.

cover handled by the People’s Insurance Company of China, we

 Ocean Marine Cargo Insurance is classified into three forms.
They are Free from Particular Average (FPA), With Particular
Average (WPA), and All Risks. The FPA covers mainly Total
Loss and General Average, while the WPA covers Particular
Average in addition. The All Risks cover, in addition to the scope
of WPA, such Extraneous Risks as Theft, Pilferage & Nondelivery Risks (TPND), Fresh and/or Rain Water Damage Risks,
Shortage Risk, Intermixture & Contamination Risks, Leakage
Risk, Clash & Breakage Risks, Taint of Odour Risk, Sweating &
Heating Risks, Hook Damage Risk, Rust Risks, Breakage of
Packing Risk, etc. In case of FPA or WPA, one or several kinds
of these Extraneous Risks may be covered in addition.
