Our Project Process
We are Intel Learn Learners made this multimedia project on a problem
which we have identified in our surroundings and tried to find out proper
solution through these following process.
 First we interacted with the community members and found out many problems that the
community is currently facing.
 We tried to prioritize the problems within the community and found out the most important
problem as “Water Problem in Ser-Anglong
 Then we prepared a questionnaire and started a survey in the community
 After the survey we started a project and used multimedia technology
 Drew a map of our village in paint brush for pointing out the location
 We captured few snaps of village wells because wanted to show its condition
 Started analysis with help of MS Excel and made a chart which is helpful to understand the daily
use of water between two families
 Created a Flyer in word doc for a community meeting announcement
 Searched internet and got some good points of digging wells in proper area and gave those
suggestions to our community people
 Through Internet we got some govt. connections and helped the community people to send their
application
 At the end of the program we are the learners showcased our multimedia project in front of
community people and tried to motivate to solve their current problem collaboratively
Introduction
Water problem is one of the major problems in India. In
India every year thousands of people suffer and about 1,600 people
die from water borne diseases such as Diarrhea, Dysentery, Cholera
etc. and most of them are children below the age of five
A site visit to village Ser-Anglong
Ser-Anglong is a village of Karbi Anglong district (Assam). This
village is very near to our school, so as part of the Intel Learn
project, we went to there to survey the daily lives of village people.
We saw that they have different problems, but water problem was
the biggest problem, because of poor water facilities.
We felt sad that the people did not even offer us a glass of drinking
water – because of water scarcity
About The Village
Our Observation - The village Ser-Anglong is a geographical hilly area. Here rain
comes in summer. Generally the weather of the village is hot in summer and cold in
winter. Due to hilly area people are unable to dig well deeply cause of hard soil and
hard rock under the ground. The distance from Diphu town is about 5 km – Diphu is
the nearest place where water pipelines are there. Here the main transportation is by
auto that is very costly.

Q11. How do you
conserve water?
A9. We are unable to use the drilling machine because it is very

A10. Yes, we find lots of difficulties in using this water specially
during the winter season the well use to be dried up due to
scarcity of rain water. Rain water is the main source of water
here. Moreover in summer too the water becomes muddy but
we people are force to use this water since there is no any
other way of finding water and moreover the Government are
not supplying any water facilities. So, small children and babies
are facing lots of difficulties from using this water and they get
lots of sickness. Moreover women are force to carry water from
the other villages.
A11.: We conserve water by digging as a small muddy well just
like a pit to store water especially during the summer and rainy
season and some store water in the drum, sintax where the
water falls from the roof.

Government and political leader (E.M)
and also.

We visited and checked few wells & saw
the conditions of those. They said that in
winter the water level goes further down
Women daily spend many hours
to fetch water from the well

Our team proposal
Suggestions to Solve Water Crisis
1.
The village people committee will talk with
District council for supply of sufficient
amount of water in their village.
2.
Need to dig two wells in this village. Find a
good place for the well. There must be a water
source, such as an open body of water or a
running stream. We came to know after the
thorough study through internet that the well
should be at least 100 feet from the source, so
that the ground can act as a natural filter for
the water.
3.
Cover the bottom of well with about four or
five inches of small rocks. This will act as a
filter and will help keep insects and wildlife
from entering the well from below.
4.
The village committee should also write an
application to Public Health Emergency
department to provide sufficient amount of
fresh drinking water.
