Surveillance of Space (SofS)
Project
Successfully Launched
Sapphire - Feb 2013
 Provide Canada with assured access to orbital data on space
objects of Canadian national interest via the acquisition and
deployment of a space-based sensor system (Sapphire System)
 In February 2013, successfully launched Sapphire, Canada’s
first dedicated operational military satellite

Polar Epsilon (PE) Project
Full Operational

 Using data from Canada's RADARSAT 2, for improved
surveillance of the Arctic and maritime approaches
to Canada

Information System (CFHIS) Project
Project Successfully
Delivered - Sep 2012
 Implemented a secure healthcare information
system that allows Canadian Forces health care
providers located at clinics across Canada and
abroad to access and update patient history in realtime



URSA provides a deployable capability to
deliver near real-time, unclassified, widearea, space-based surveillance

SSA generates classified reports, in near
real-time, detailing what the space-based
sensor threat is for the selected area and
period

Growth of CSNI presence at most RCAF units by
as much as 160% will require support

Success of delivery is dependent on the readiness
and availability of users as budgeted delivery time is
limited at each unit
