1. What is the Biosphere?
 The Biosphere is Earth
 3 parts: land, water, air
2. What is a Biome?
A Biome ……
 is a very specialized
ecosystem that only exists in a
certain area or climate.
 They are identified by factors
like temperature, rainfall, soil
type and altitude.
 The organisms are adapted to
its specific climate
(temperature and
precipitation)
4. How many Biomes exist on Earth?
5. What Biome do you live in?
6. Which Biome interests you the most?
Why?
7. Research Biosphere 2. Write a
paragraph describing the Biosphere 2
project.

Biosphere Problems…
 “The project was wracked by scandals and problems,
including a failure in atmosphere balance that ended when
oxygen was secretly piped in, but also miscalculations in the
populations of ants, fish, roaches, and morning glories that
would explode and throw the system out of balance. Toss in
the secret breaking of the seal to allow a member to leave
and return (bringing supplies), and severe social conflict that
actually resulted in the second mission ending when angry
former members broke the seal from the outside, and the
entire project was eventually deemed a "failure".” –
