20 days as I/O + 1 Training day, Fire, I/O,

15 days as Flag + 1 Training day ,

Note:
Each upgrade requires an
assessment by an Examining
Post Chief after all attendance
and training signatures have been
obtained.
Upgrade from track to
experienced track requires two
assessment signatures (one
incident, one flag). These must
be separate days and both can
only be done after all attendance
and training signatures have been
obtained

To maintain a grade needs 4

requires club nomination & MSA approval

20 days as Chief/Deputy Chief + 2 Training days

Specialism, Report Writing, Communication, Leadership

Note:
Each upgrade requires an assessment by an

15 days marshalling (min. 10 in specialism) + 1
Training day Specialism, Fire, Basic marshalling
Trainee Marshal

Upgrading to Examining Kart Marshal
requires club nomination & MSA approval

20 days (5 as Experienced Kart Marshal, 5 as I/O) + 2 Training days

Experienced Kart Marshal
20 days combined Flag & Incident duties (min 5 days on one, 10 on the
other) + 2 Kart training days (Flag, Incident, Fire, Basic First Aid)

An upgrade signature is not automatic. If the assessor does not consider the marshal is
ready for an upgrade or they had no incidents to handle, they will say so and record the
reasons on the record card together with their recommendations for corrective actions.
