MAIA-Laurea Magistrale Program with the Scuola di Scienze Politiche e Sociali, University of
Bologna
This two-year program can be undertaken by spending the first year at SAIS Europe and the second year at
the University of Bologna, or vice versa. Students must apply separately and be admitted by both institutions.
Those who begin at the University of Bologna must complete at least 56 credits (CFU) during the first year.
Upon completion of six additional courses, the MAIA thesis and language requirement, they will be eligible to
receive both the Johns Hopkins SAIS MAIA degree and the University of Bologna Laurea Magistrale degree.
Conversely, students coming from SAIS Europe will get up to 56 CFU for the courses taken at SAIS towards
the Laurea Magistrale in International Relations, Bologna campus or Forlì campus. Upon completion of four
additional courses, the Laurea Magistrale thesis and language requirement, they will be eligible to receive
both the SAIS Europe Diploma and the University of Bologna Laurea Magistrale degree.
