 First let me begin by saying
Congratulations! You have worked hard, and
your efforts should most certainly be

graduating that they forget there are
important steps to take to ensure you will
receive your degree on time
 This seminar will provide you with essential
information that is needed to make sure
you reach your goal!
Make SURE That Your Are On Track
 Did you know that it takes more than just
completing each course on your Program Evaluation
to complete your degree?
 In addition to completing all the courses, there are:
 Institutional GPA Requirements
 Combined or Overall GPA Requirements
 Major GPA Requirements
 Institutional Credit Requirements
 Major Institutional Credit Requirements
 Senior Level Credit Requirements
 Let us briefly discuss each of these…
Institutional GPA Requirements
 In order to complete your degree, you must attain a
certain GPA in the courses that you have complete AT
TROY.
 Courses that may have transferred to Troy do not apply
toward your Institutional GPA.
 For most undergraduate programs, the required
Institutional GPA is a 2.0. However, this may
occasionally vary depending on your program of study.
 You can determine your current Institutional GPA by
referring to your Program Evaluation in Trojan Web
Express

Combined or Overall GPA Requirements
 In addition to your Institutional GPA, you must also achieve a
certain Combined or Overall GPA.
 Your Combined or Overall GPA is determined by the courses you
have completed at Troy AND any transfer credits you received
from other colleges.
 If you have never attended another college other than Troy, your
Combined or Overall GPA will be the same as your Institutional
GPA.
 Once again, the Combined or Overall GPA requirement for most
Undergraduate programs is a 2.0, but it can occasionally vary
depending on your program of study.
 You can determine your current Combined or Overall GPA by
referring to your Program Evaluation in Trojan Web Express

Major GPA Requirements
 You must achieve the specified minimum GPA in your

 This GPA is determined only by the courses in your
Major. It excludes any course for your General Studies or
your Minor.
 Typically, the minimum Major GPA is a 2.0, but it can
sometimes differ depending on your Major
 You can determine your current Major GPA by referring

Institutional Credit Requirements
 A certain amount of credit hours must be taken at Troy
University in order to complete your degree
 Your Institutional Credits are only those completed at
Troy; courses that transferred to Troy from other
institutions do not apply
 Typically most Undergraduate degrees require that at
least 30 credit hours must be completed at Troy, but this
may vary depending on your program
 You can determine your current Institutional Credits by

 Your Major Institutional Credit Requirement can only be

Senior Level Credit Requirements
 A certain amount of credit hours must be completed at Four

 Courses transferred to Troy from Two Year Colleges will not
count toward your Senior Level Requirement even though
they fulfill a degree requirement
 It is required that you complete at least 50% of your degree
(usually 60 credit hours) at Four Year Institutions or Upper
Level Military
 The actual amount of hours that make up 50% of your
degree may vary slightly depending on your program of
study
 You can determine your current Senior Level Credits by

PROGRAM

Most Importantly
 It is beneficial for you to be able to determine where you
stand in regards to the previously discussed
requirements on your own
 HOWEVER, please speak to your Academic Advisor AND
come by the Student Support Services Offices (Malone
Hall 116) once you get close to completing your degree
so that we may check as well
Intent to Graduate
 Did you know that you must submit an Intent to Graduate form two full
semesters BEFORE you plan to complete your degree?
 Even if ALL requirements have been completed, your degree will not be
conferred if you did not submit an Intent to Graduate form before the
deadline for that semester!
 You can find the deadlines to submit an Intent to Graduate by referring

graduation date you will need to re-file to graduate the following semester.
You will receive an e-mail with all the re-file instructions, which will be sent to
your TROY e-mail account. If you do not receive this e-mail please contact the
appropriate Records office as soon as possible.
