The Call of the Wild

Buck
Buck is a big dog. He lived in
California until he was traded and
moved to the Yukon. Now he is on a
dog sled team to find gold, where he is
cold and hungry. How will he survive in
a dog eat dog world?
The dog sled team
When Buck was on the dog sled
team for the first time he was closer to
the back. He thought he should be at
the front. He couldn’t do any thing
about it because Spitz was the lead dog
and every dog was a little scared of
him.
The Fight to the Death!
• Buck finely is were he wanted to be on the
team after he had the fight with Spitz! They
all saw a rabbit so they chased it into the
woods were Buck and Spitz could fight! Spitz
was smaller then Buck but he held his ground
as Buck charged him. Finely Buck went for
the head but at the last second he bent down
• And got him right in the
• Leg, it was finished
Buck Falls
Buck gets traded to Hal, who doesn’t
know any thing about packing, having
enough food or making sure his dogs are
healthy. One day as they are running Buck
falls and doesn’t get up. Hal starts whipping
him. Buck still didn’t get up. A man named
John comes and hits Hal and
takes Buck out of the sled.
All Dogs Fall
After Buck was rescued by John, Hal
and the team go on to the river. John
warns them that it is not safe because
the ice was too thin. There was a giant
crack and Hal and all the dogs fall, and
were never seen again!
The Bet
After John Thornton saves Buck from
Hal they go into the town of Dawson.
John gets in a conversation with some
men bragging about their dogs. Hearing
them talk about how good their dogs
are John tops them all and says that
Buck could start a thousand pounds and
carry it for a hundred yards!
The Wolves Attack
Buck was running through the trees when
a pack of wolves come out and attack him!
They finally corner Buck, but he fights back
even though he is out numbered. They all
snarl and growl at him. They attack but he
just bites them
and knocks them to
the ground. The leader
finally stops and sits down.
Kill to Eat
• When Buck was staying with John he
often ran out into the wilderness to try
and answer the call of the wild. When
he was out there he only killed to eat
and survive. Once he even killed a bear!
