Piero Pizzi Cannella was born in 1955 at Rocca di Papa (Rome). He attends the Accademy of Fine Arts in Rome and at the same time he enrolls in the Philosophy course at the Sapienza. In 1982 he sets up his studio in the Pastificio Cerere, in the San Lorenzo area, creating, together with B. Ceccobelli, G. Dessì, G. Gallo, Nunzio and M. Tirelli, the San Lorenzo School. Over the years many Galleries organize his personal exhibitions: Rome (Galleria L’Attico, Galleria Volume, Galleria Mucciaccia), New York (Annina Nosei Gallery), Berlin (Folker Skulima Galerie), Basel (Galleria Triebold), Milan (Galleria Cannaviello), Paris (Vidal-Saint Phalle, Galleria Di Meo), Florence (Galleria Alessandro Bagnai), Singapore (Partners & Mucciaccia Gallery). Museums and pubblic spaces dedicated to him several solo exhibitions: Diari di Guerra at the Civic Museum of Gibellina, Pizzi Cannella in the museum complex of Santa Maria della Scala of Siena, Carte 1980-2001 at the Archeological Museum of Aosta, Polittici at the Castello Colonna-International Center of Contemporary Art of Genazzano, Le Mappe del Mondo set up in the Teatro India of Rome, Pizzi Cannella, sept ou hit chambres at the Hotel des Arts of Tolone, Cattedrale at the MACRO of Rome, Chinatown. Invitation to travel, an itinerant exhibition staged at the Complex of Palazzo Pitti in Florence, at Mudima Fondation in Milan and at the Museum of Modern Art in Saint Etienne, Bon à tirer at the Museum of Modern Art of Udine, Ceramiche a the Internatinal Museum of Ceramics in Faenza. Pizzi Cannella takes part at several group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Many Pizzi Cannella's works are permanently exposed in important public collections: at the Royal Palace of Milan, at the Gallery of Modern Art of Bologna, at the Mumok Museum and at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Beijing, in the deconsecrated church of San Giorgio in Poggiale (Bologna), at the MACRO of Rome and a the Biedermann Motech a Villingen- Schwenningen (Germany), at the Gallery of Modern Art of Turin.
