New Testament —The story of Jesus and God’s people (the Church ) since the time of Christ. The Old Testament has 3 major types of books: 1. History (First 5 books are the Pentatuch or Torah) 2. Poetry 3. Prophecy (Major Prophets and Minor Prophets) Of the 17 historical books, 11 are “primary” in the sense that they advance the storyline, and 6 are “secondary” (they amplify and supplement the primary books).
