ANTI-SEMITISM IN THE NAZI PARTY
- Amongst other things, Hitler began hating Jews after he found out about a
-
-
Jewish doctor poisoning his mother. He also hated Jews as he got rejected
into the Vienna Academy of Art in 1908
He blamed the Jews for many of the problems that occurred towards him
during the time period of 1908 to 1910, this led to anti-Semitism
occurring towards the Jews.
Hitler blamed the Jews for his time in Vienna prison, which was when he
wrote his book “Mein Kampf”
Hitler and the Nazi’s wanted to get rid of the Jews because they were
getting in the way of Hitler’s idea of creating the ‘prefect race’
Hitler also got red of the Jews as they took up space in Germany and easier
to kill then ship off
The Nazi’s ideas on the Aryan Race
-
Hitler believed in a pure German race, which he called the
Aryan Race, also known as the Master Race
-
“The Aryan race is tall, long legged, slim. The race is
narrow-faced, with a narrow forehead, a narrow high built
nose and a lower jaw and prominent chin, the skin is rosy
bright and the blood shines through .... the hair is smooth,
straight or wavy – possibly curly in childhood. The colour is
blonde” Description of a ‘pure’ Aryan taken from a
leaflet, ‘The Nazi Race’, 1929
-
Hitler partly blamed the failure of WW1 from the Aryan’s
marrying the non-Aryans which led to the countries race
weakening
Hitler believed that the Aryan Race was to be superior to all
other races when it came to intelligence, physical strength
and cultural achievements
Germans or people who were not apart of the Aryan Race
were known as ‘inferior stock’
Not only did Hitler share this idea but ordinary Germans did
too

THE
PERSECUTIONS OF
THE DIFFERENT
MINORITIES
The Holocaust Beginnings
 On April 1, 1933, the Nazis instigated their first action against
German Jews by implementing the Nuremberg laws, which
would exclude Jewish people from business and public affairs.
The Nuremberg Laws, issued on September 15, 1935, began
to exclude Jews from public life.
 At its start, the Nazi’s would round up Jewish communities
and put them in ghetto’s, which restricted their freedom
within in Germany
The Holocaust Operations
 The Nazi’s sent Jews into
‘Concentration Camps’ to
either be put to forced labor
or executed in various
different methods.
 Around 1938, the Nazi’s
began putting heavier
emphasis on the Jewish
people, and more of them
were sent to concentration
camps to be either be killed
or put to hard work.
The Results of the Holocaust
 By the end of the Holocaust,
an estimated 6 million Jewish
people had died, about 78
percent of the Jewish
population in Germany at the
time.
 The Holocaust is marked as
one of the biggest, most recent
examples of genocide within a
country, and its effect on the
world still shows today.
The mentally and physically disabled
 The mentally and physically disabled were known as inferior to scientists, zoologists
-
and doctors
According to Grey and Little, Euthanasia and Sterilisation were suggested as
“remedies”
Hitler introduced the ‘Sterilisation Law” in order to get rid of the so called
“abnormal”
Forced Sterilizations began in January 1934 and up to 400,000 people were
sterilized under the law
Vasectomy's and the removal of ovarian tubes of women were 2 methods of
sterilisation
The Euthanasia program was also introduced.
It was a program used to systematically kill those who were mentally and physically
disabled
Hitler felt that the Mentally and physically disabled would get in the way of the
Aryan Race
The Gypsies (Sinti and Roma)
 Sinti and Roma, also known as Gypsies
 They were ‘nomadic people’ (had no actual home)




found throughout Europe and the United States
They were singled out just like the Jews, Blacks,
mentally and physically disabled, eastern
Europeans and the Homosexuals
They were treated fairly similar to the Jews as
they were placed in ghettos, extermination camps
and used as medical guinea pigs
Their civil rights were deprived, just as the Jews,
Eastern Europeans, blacks and homosexuals
were, not to mention those who were physically
and mentally disabled.
Hitler also god rid of the gypsies for the same
reasons as the other minority groups. Was
because they got in the way of fulfilling the Aryan
Race
The homosexuals and black people
 Why did hitler hate the blacks and the homosexual
 “According to J. A. Rogers, Adolph Hitler declares in Mein Kampf
Negroes are "half-apes." This is far from being the opinion of
pre-Hitler Germany if one is to judge by the various monuments
and pictures of Negroes in German museums and other public
places…”
 Hitler was more lenient towards homosexuality than the
other minorities, his prejudice was more directed towards the
‘femme’ gays than the more manlike ‘butch’ gays.
