What is formission?
• FORMATION and COMMISSION hybrid - in
order for the Great Commission to be fulfilled
through us we need the Spirit of God to first
FORM the character of Christ in us.
• FOR the MISSION – everything we do must
be for THE mission. It reminds us that the
more we fulfill the Great Commission, the
healthier we will become. The healthier we
become, the faster we will move from a
position of a decline on our organizational
lifecycle to a place of life and growth. We
will then recapture visional energy,
fellowship connectivity and missional and
ministry priorities.
• FOUR phased initiative - FORMISSION also
alludes to the number four and the four
phases of the PAONL’s Discipleship Plan.

JER 17 9 “The human heart is the most deceitful
of all things, and desperately wicked. Who
really knows how bad it is?
a. HEART the total inner being including reason.
b. DECEITFUL Heart: own individual hearts
So deceitful that it can hide the truth from our
conscious awareness (no one know self by
self).
c. DESPERATELY wicked [sick] Heart refers to a
“wounded state.”
*There is sin in us, done by us, done to us and in
the natural world.

MARK 1 15 “The time promised by

Jesus came to set up a kingdom that
has reconciled and will one day fully
reconcile us to the “garden state”
(unhindered intimacy with God and

Here are the four major religious beliefs about
the kingdom of God and how that was going
to come is about:
1. The Zealots: They wanted a bloody
revolution.
2. Herod and the Chief Priests: They could
never overpower Rome and must accept and
compromise.
3. The Essenes: They set up monasteries and
hid away. God would one day show up and
take over.
4. Pharisees: If we could one day without sin it
would usher in God’s kingdom.

LUKE 13 Cut it down; why does it use up
the ground?’ 8 But he answered and
said to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year
also, until I dig around it and fertilize it.
9 And if it bears fruit, well. But if not,
after that you can cut it down.’
 Growth in Christ’s kingdom includes
a loving position (grace), honest
relationships (truth) and the time
needed.

 I must bring my true self into the
present otherwise there are parts of
me stuck in an spiritually immature
state.

James 5:16 Confess your sins to each other
and pray for each other so that you may
be healed.
 If you want forgiveness ask God (through
Christ) if you want to be healed tell
someone else you trust (I get excited
when…)
 A hurt left unattended becomes a hangup, a hang-up not dealt with becomes a
habit. (act of sin).
 Another way to say it is you are only as
sick as your secrets.

We dream of the FORMISSION of new believers,
who in turn will produce disciples, creating a
perpetual movement until Christ returns. Once M1
has launched, our commitment and perseverance
to the plan coupled with the breath of God on
these dry bones may, in fact, signal our FORMISSION
- A FORMATION of COMMISSIONED disciples who
will not be content to watch the beginning of our
end, but will be relentless in engaging a fresh
beginning.
