OLD FORM OF GOVERNMENT
Like a modular home,
everything is pre-fabricated.
NEW FORM OF GOVERNMENT
Is more like a truck delivering
to us all the parts we need to
put the presbytery together,
but it is up to us in how we
build an organizational
structure that makes sense for
us in our context
In May, 2012 the Guide Team and
Council
invited the Presbytery to
endorse an organizational
design that shifts and changes our
culture by:
Identifies core mission
Encourages regionalization
Shifts purpose
Understands PRP is its members
Allows stream-line organization
… identifies
That the
CORE MISSION
of the
PRESBYTERY
is to …
support, encourage, and affirm the …
witness, vitality, and faithfulness of our
congregations so they become …
communities of faith, love, and witness.
… encourages
A regionalization of
our life together and
invites us, as a
Presbytery, to go
deeper with one
another, by…
… encourages
Creating space for
meaningful
relationships with
one another …
… encourages
Putting the connect
back in
connectional
… encourages

Covenant Communities of
Faith and Practice
Pastor Covenant Groups
Regional events for the
sharing of best practices
among ruling elders
Bible studies with the
aim of facilitating and
support of one another
… shifts
The “purpose” and
“function” of Presbytery
from a regulatory,
mission or program
agency to a missional,
relational, and
deliberative learning
community.
Function and purpose
of Presbytery shifts …
.
… understands
That the ministry and
work of the Presbytery is
a primary responsibility
of the members
(including both teaching
and ruling elders) of the
Presbytery.
… understands
…That the
Presbytery R Us
… allows
Us to carry out the Book
of Order responsibilities
of a Presbytery, as well
as our Mission / Vision
Statement, in a way that
is stream-lined and
allows flexibility.

2. And what are the Adaptive
Challenges we are facing?
PRESENT ADAPTIVE CHALLNGES
Due to a multiplicity of issues, many
beyond our control, we do not know how,
and may not be able become the missional,
relational, learning community we have
envisioned and claimed, on paper, that we
want to be.
The way God could send us into our context
for the sake of the kingdom may not occur.
What is at stake for the system –
What is the risk of doing nothing?
