Letter from the Science Fair
Student to her Teacher
Hi Ms. Hall!
The trip was absolutely amazing and inspiring! The people we met from all over the world were so
smart, creative, and innovative! Unfortunately, my project did not place, but because the quality of the
other projects was sky-high!
I'm not sure if you've had the chance to visit the ISEF page, but you can read about the three grand
prize winners and their projects. I definitely learned a lot from the experience and thank you so
much for the opportunity! The trip was honestly life changing and I feel so grateful to have been
able to have gone. I think Tyson and I both had an awesome experience and hopefully in the future
more kids from Charleston will be able to go and be inspired.
If you have any questions, or would like to know more about anything we did or about ISEF in general,
please let me know! I would be happy to answer or help you with anything. Thank you again so much
for everything you have done for us. From the planning of flights, shuttles, hotels, and more, you did
an absolutely wonderful job and we wouldn't have made it without you.
Thanks again,
Irene
This is what it is all about.

“Strategic Think Tank”
Committee
Chair: Elizabeth Stober
Co-Chair: Ryan Lemire
Think Tank
Purpose
The focus of the Think Tank Committee is to
help identify ways to improve and focus on the
future. Our goal is to help define the path
forward for the organization – through
membership, growth, and expansion. This is
also the forum where Industry and Government
leaders can provide input to the CDCA.
Think Tank
Meetings
The “Think Tank” interacts monthly regarding
ideas and topics of discussion and hosts
quarterly meetings. The entire Board is invited
to attend the meetings.
Think Tank
Accomplishments
 Standardizing key committee associations with
elected office positions (ex: Treasurer = Finance
Chair). This was handed off to the Ways, Means and
Rules Committee.
 Establishing job descriptions for every committee to
better ensure continuity. This was handed off to the
Way, Means and Rules Committee
 Researching ways to improve and update the
organizations’ by-laws. Our current by-laws have not
been reviewed since 2002. This was handed off to
the Ways, Means and Rules Committee.
Think Tank
Goals & Objectives
 Strategic roadmap for the future of CDCA
 Generate business – focusing on our members. Initial ideas
include:




Utilize the NC group as a guide
Expand our focus regionally – identify local agencies in the
DoD/Federal market (ex: FLETC, NOAA, State Dept, etc.)
Expand our focus beyond DoD (Ex: Boeing, Google, Amazon,
BMW, MUSC and other health centers, Avionics, SC Launch,
SCRA, etc.)
Incorporate these agencies/companies into SBIOIs, Summit, etc for
industry knowledge.
 Get feedback from members/industry on whether this approach
is of interest/value
 Focus on BRAC and work in conjunction with the Chamber and
others in the community
