Measurement: is done whenever we want to describe the quantity of a
variable with numbers, for example the heights of people in centimeters
of meter (s) and also the weight in grams or kilograms.
Evaluation:
Evaluation
involves
quantitative
and
qualitative
descriptions of events, behaviors things, variables we need evaluation in
education to make some instructional decisions, curricular decision,
selection decisions, placement or classification decision to the modern
educator the ultimate goal of evaluation is to facilate learning there are
four purposes of testing and evaluating: 1) Placement; 2) Diagnosis; 3)
Assessment of change and 4) Prediction.
1- By placement we mean the classification of the person the examination
could be done in the end of a session or end of a year.
2- Diagnosis is generally more intensive than extensive, it focuses
attention on the difficulties, and here we can do remediation.
3- Assessment of change deals with the progress of the person.
Example: the pupil’s post instructional status should be superior to his
pre-instructional status.
4- Prediction is done to know in the future if we will be genius in the
major that we choose.
Assessment: We do assessment when it is impossible to us to find a fix
number, like the IQ, the interest, the achievement is an approximation
(Near about) not exactly the result. In this case we do the assessment it
helps us nut we can’t compare easily.
Conclusion:
All these process are important but they have their qualities
because each one is specific we can’t replace one in the place of the other.
